Welcome!............
Founded
in the small Shropshire village of Albrighton by a group of local
animal caring people, the Charity was registered in 1971, after already
been operating for 10 years.Whilst
the Constitution of the Charity relates
to activities over a broad
geographical area, the operation from its parochial origins, has now
extended into an area centred around the major West Midland
conurbations.
In
addition to 'homeless' animals, there are numerous distress
circumstances arising from a growing aged sector and persons changing
their home and not being able to accommodate their pets.[n
all cases, where possible, MIDLANDS ANIMAL RESCUE TEAM is mobilised
which results in the handling of some 500+ cases per year with most
animals coming into our care for varying periods until permanently homed. The services we offer are in rehoming animals and supporting animals that cannot be rehomed
Veterinary fees are substantial (currently approaching £4-5000 per month) as all animals coming into
our care receive whatever treatment is needed before re-homing and the
Charity has a strict non-destruction policy. All animals are neutered
thereby helping to reduce the amount of unwanted kittens and puppies
being born.
We are a totally voluntary organisation and rely on funds given by the public
The
Team is financed entirely by voluntary donations together with profits
from fund raising events. Fund-raising takes many forms including
street/store collections, bric-a-brac fairs, car boot sales, stalls at various cat shows, coffee mornings, specialised events and our charity shop.We
always try to help anyone with a problem but as a small group, we
sometimes cannot act immediately mainly due to lack of a foster space.
Midlands Animal Rescue Team is a 100% voluntary organisation - we have no paid officers or employees
and we have no where near the human or financial resources of larger
groups but, in the circumstances, we try our best because we genuinely
care for ALL animals.
